FAQ

  • The studio has great London public transport links. Deptford train station and Greenwich train station are both 0.3. miles (10 minute walk) away.

  • There is free on-street parking directly outside of the building that Black Tapestry Tattoo resides within but spaces are limited and we can’t guarantee that there will be one available if you drive. There are a variety of car parking spots nearby on www.justpark.com.

  • Yes – we are on the first floor but there is a lift.

  • I work Tuesdays - Fridays. I don’t work weekends unfortunately.

  • I book a maximum of 3 months in advance. I open my diary every 3 months, once the next 3 months have been filled then I will close my books again.

  • All consultations are done via email. You can fill out a booking form here. If it is a complicated idea/design then we can arrange a face to face consultation once an appointment has been made.

  • I have a set rate for a half day (3 hours), a full day (6 hours) and an extra long day (8 hours). The price will be discussed during your consultation.

  • A £200 none refundable deposit is required for each tattoo session you book.

  • 72 hour cancellation/reschedule policy. Anything less than 72 hours will result in the deposit being lost. You may reschedule your appointment once, however if you need to reschedule that same appointment again, the original deposit will be lost and you will have to pay a new deposit for your new booking.

  • Designs/concepts are done and sent via email 1-2 days before your appointment however during busy times you may be shown the design on the morning of the appointment. If you are booking for an arm/leg sleeve, I sometimes approach the design process a little differently. It’s near impossible to design a complete wrap-around sleeve on a design on the iPad due to the curvature of the body and the varying shape from person to person. I will come up with a brief concept and a few ideas to get us started with the tattoo and then as the sessions go by, we can work together to finish the design - I find this lets the tattoo grow more organically and allows you to have more control over the final piece. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see a full arm/leg sleeve design before your appointment, after years of developing this style I’ve found that this is the most successful approach to delivering the best tattoo for my clients.

  • You may change your mind, as long as you give me enough time before the appointment to change/redraw the design.

  • No. You may send me images of other artists work to be used for inspiration for your tattoo but I will never copy another artists design.

  • Unfortunately, most tattoos do come with some degree of pain. This can vary for a number of reasons such as the location of the tattoo, the style of tattoo being done, the duration of the tattoo, how well you have prepared for the tattoo, how comfortable you are, etc. We have a television in the studio to help distract clients, which we have found helps especially during longer sessions.

  • If you wish to use numbing cream, I would recommend using TKTX - Apply it evenly to the skin 2 hours before your tattoo and wrap it tightly with clingfilm. I do recommend that you do a tester patch a few days before to make sure you do not have an adverse reaction to the cream. There is one exception to this rule and that is regarding blackout tattoos. I find that the numbing cream alters the skin which makes it more difficult to evenly saturate the skin and can lead to patchy healing. If you have booked in for a blackout tattoo then I would rather you did not use numbing cream. If you would still rather use it then this is your choice, but if your tattoo needs a touch up due to a patchy heal then you will have to pay for the touch up session.

  • Before your appointment at Black Tapestry Tattoo Studio London, remember to stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet. Ensure a good night's sleep the day before your tattoo and refrain from drugs or alcohol for the best tattoo experience.

  • At Black Tapestry Tattoo Studio London, feel free to bring drinks and snacks to your appointment. Sugary drinks and snacks can help maintain your blood sugar levels during the session. While we provide comfortable beds and cushions, some clients prefer to bring their pillows for added comfort.

  • The studio isn’t huge and there isn’t a great deal of privacy unfortunately - We do have a privacy screen but it isn’t huge, please bear this in mind and choose the appropriate clothing to wear/bring if your tattoo is in an awkward place.

  • I would prefer it f you did not bring anyone with you to your tattoo appointment. The studio isn’t huge and can get quite crowded at times. It’s aso pretty boring for the friend to sit there for 3-6 hours whilst you’re being tattooed!

  • To get started on your cover-up tattoo, please use my booking form to schedule a consultation. During the consultation, we can discuss your cover-up options.

  • You can find my aftercare instructions here.

  • I typically avoid tattooing over larger scars or skin conditions as a general practice. However, if the scars are not excessively large or deep, it may be possible to tattoo over them. During your consultation, you can discuss your specific situation and I will provide guidance based on your unique needs. It's advisable to consult with your doctor regarding any skin conditions and the potential effects of tattooing in or near the affected area for your safety and well-being. Your health and safety is my top priority.
